Üsküp şehir merkezine uzunca bir yoldan giriliyor. "Centre" tabelaları bittiğinde de merkezde olmadığım kesindi.

Bu tabelalar hazırlanırken mutlaka şehri hiç bilmeyen birinden danışmanlık alınmalı. İlk defa gelen birisi için yapılmıyor mu bu tabelalar?

Bilen insan tabelayı ne yapsın?

İnternet üzerinden gözüme kestirdiğim oteli güçlükle bulabildim. Merkeze yakın diye seçtiğim oteli bir türlü bulamadım.

Başbakanlık binasının karşısındaymış. İki aydır süren protestolar nedeniyle cadde trafiğe kapatılmış. Göstericiler bana yolu açtılar ve otele girebildim.

Göstericiler toplam beş kişiydi sanırım.

Göstericilerin bariyerini aştıktan sonra da üç polise motorumu emanet edip otele çıktım. 5 gösterici 3 polis sandalyede oturup telefonlarıyla oynarsa bu cadde yıllarca trafiğe kapalı kalabilir. Hükümet de  düşmez. Emekli olur ancak.

To enter the cities center, you have to go through a long road. When "center" road signs stopped showing, it was clear that i wasn't the cities center anymore.
When they are making these road signs, they should consult to someone whose never been here before. Isn't that the point of road signs?
What would a local do with the road signs?
It was hard to find the hotel i decided on over the internet.
It turns out it's in front of the prime ministry building. Road is closed due to protests since 2 months ago.
Protesters cleared the way so i could get into the hotel.
They were 5 people.
After passing the protesters barrier, i entrusted my bike to 3 police officers and went into the hotel. with 5 protesters and 3 police officers sitting in chairs and playing with their phones, government is not gonna fall but retire and that street is gonna be closed to traffic for years.

Üsküpte Euro kullanılmıyor. Dinara ihtiyacım var. Döviz büroları kapalı. Altıdan sonra hiç bi yer açık değil. 

Terk edilmiş bir şehir gibi görünüyor Üsküp.

Güzel, görkemli yapılar, geniş bakımlı cadde ve kaldırımlar ama hiç kimse yok.

Bir biyolojik savaştan çıkılmış da hayatta bir kaç canlı kalmış gibi. İnsanlar açık döviz bürosu bulamayacağımı söylüyorlar. 20, 30€ da çevirmiyorlar.

Cadde ortasında bu güzel şehri bırakıp Sırbistan'a mı geçsem diye düşünürken bir polis aracı yanımda durup bir problem olum olmadığını sordu.

derdimi anladılar ve açık olan bir döviz bürosuna götürmek üzere bizi takip et dediler.

Polislerin gönüllü olarak insanlara yardımcı olmaya çalıştığını daha önce hiç görmemiştim.

Polis aracı durdu. Memur dışarıya çıkıp motoru park edebileceğim yeri ve kapıyı gösterdi. Ben onların tavrına şaşırırken onlar beni biraz saf sandılar sanırım.

Yeterli olacağını düşündüğüm kadar Dinar alıp karnımı doyurdum ve otele geri döndüm.

Döndüğümde motoru emanet ettiğim polisler "görevlerinin!" başındaydılar. Sandalyeler hiç bozulmamış. Selamlaştık.

Sanırım kendimi bu kadar güvende hissedeceğim yerin bir "hükümet protestosunun ortası" olacağı aklımın ucundan geçmezdi.

Sakince odama yerleştim. Dinleniyorum.

They don't accept euro in Skopje. I need dinar. I need an exchange office. Nowhere is open after 6 pm.

City itself looks like a ghost town.

Beautiful buildings, wide, maintained streets and sidewalks but no human to be found.

It's like they got out of a biological warfare and only a few remained. 

People are telling me i can't find any open exchange office.

Just as i was thinking about skipping Skopje and travelling to Serbia, a police car stopped near me and asked if everything was okay.

They told me to follow them to an open exchange office.

Never saw policemen trying to help people voluntarily.

Police car stopped. Officers stepped outside and showed me a place where i can park my motorcycle.

I think they thought i was a little bit naive.

Exchanged dinar and went out for a bite then returned to my hotel.

When i returned, police officers were still on their "duty". Chairs were still the same.

I never thought i would feel this safe in the middle of a government protest.

Quietly i settled in my room. Resting.
